2012 Nebraska Cycling Association "Road Rider of the Year" Competition Details

In its fifth year, the Nebraska Cycling Association’s "Road Rider of Year program (ROY) is designed to recognize and reward consistent performance from area racers in the disciplines of time trial, criterium and road racing.

For 2012, the Nebraska Cycling Association is excited to offer another solid schedule of events to award to our most consistent performance on the road.

In addition to prestige of being the most consistent racer in your category and age division, “Rider of the Year” winners receive free entry to the following year “Rider of the Year” races. 2011 "ROY" winners include:

Men 1/2 (Under 39): Ian Robertson (Flatwater Cycling)

While race promoters are encouraged to offer as many race opportunities as possible at their events, the following categories are required for “Rider of the Year” scoring:

Category Age Divisions

Men 1 & 2, Juniors (12-18) 19-39 40-49 50-59 60+
Men 3, Juniors (12-18) 19-39 40-49 50-59 60+
Men 4, Juniors (12-18) 19-39 40-49 50-59 60+
Women, Juniors (12-18) 19-39 40+

Keep in mind, this does not mean there will be prizes for each age division listed.
Regardless of the prize list, riders will be awarded their “ROY” point based on their category and age division.

Some other important guidelines for the 2012 “ROY” competition:

  • An eligible “ROY” winner must have competed in no fewer than 5 of the scheduled NCA “Rider of the Year” events.
  • The Category and Age Divisions must have at least two riders competing in a minimum of five events each for there to be an official “Rider of the Year” competition for that Category and Age division.

Please note that the NCA does not award a “Road Rider of the Year” prize for Men 5 or Women 4, but points will be calculated in the case of a mid-season upgrade. In the case of upgrades, all accumulated points transfer with the rider and count toward the upgraded category ROY competition.

For 2012, Juniors will be scored within their race category.

Updated standings for the 2012 Nebraska “Rider of the Year” will be posted on www.nebraskacycling.org .
